September 12, 2026
Week 4 brought one of the biggest shakeups of the young Palm Beach County high school football season.
West Boca Raton took down Cardinal Newman and ended a remarkable local winning streak. Jupiter’s offense exploded for 59 points. Palm Beach Central survived Wellington to keep the Wellington Cup. Palm Beach Lakes stayed unbeaten, while several other programs delivered dominant performances across the county.
The Cage Sports Show reviewed the Week 4 scoreboard along with available game reports and statistics to highlight the teams and players who made an impact. Because complete individual statistics aren’t publicly posted for every program, we’ve avoided assigning unverified numbers to players.
Game of the Week: West Boca Raton 24, Cardinal Newman 7
This was the result that changed the Week 4 conversation.
No. 1 West Boca defeated No. 2 Cardinal Newman 24-7, handing the Crusaders their first loss to a Palm Beach County opponent in nearly five years. Cardinal Newman’s local unbeaten streak had stretched back to 2021.
West Boca standouts
Quarterback Trey Moran was the engine of the Bulls’ offense, accounting for two touchdowns and hurting Newman both with his arm and his legs. Moran connected with Anderson Gracilien for a touchdown and repeatedly created plays outside structure.
West Boca’s defense was just as impressive. Makarion Owens recorded a sack and consistently disrupted plays in the backfield. Jamar Thompson added a sack, Larry Morgan intercepted a pass, and Carlton Jackson forced and recovered a fumble. Max Reid also forced a fumble.
Cardinal Newman standouts
Jabarri/Jannaro Sumpter provided Newman’s biggest offensive play, breaking a tackle and taking a run more than 50 yards for the Crusaders’ only touchdown. He also contributed defensively.
The Newman defensive front deserves recognition despite the loss. Riley Wallace, Chris Laborde, Sean Fleming, Ty Kirkpatrick, Kyrus Haston and Tyrece Campbell-Rollins all contributed, with Wallace and Fleming among the Crusaders creating pressure in the backfield.
The Cage Take: West Boca didn’t just beat Newman. The Bulls ended one of Palm Beach County football’s most impressive streaks and strengthened their argument for the No. 1 spot in the county.
Palm Beach Central 21, Wellington 14
The Wellington Cup stays with Palm Beach Central.
The Broncos forced five turnovers and held off a late Wellington comeback for a 21-14 victory, winning the rivalry trophy for the 10th consecutive year.
Palm Beach Central’s defense was the difference. Every time Wellington appeared ready to change the momentum, Central found another way to create a takeaway.
Palm Beach Central standouts
The Broncos’ defense gets the collective game ball for producing five turnovers. Central has continued to show that it can win without needing a huge offensive night.
Wellington standouts
The Wolverines deserve credit for refusing to go away. Wellington remained within one possession late despite the turnover problems and forced Palm Beach Central to finish the game.
The Cage Take: Palm Beach Central continues to find ways to win. Style points don’t matter when the trophy keeps coming home.
Jupiter 59, Boca Raton 14
If anyone needed more evidence that Jupiter belongs in the upper tier of Palm Beach County, Week 4 provided it.
The Warriors crushed Boca Raton 59-14, producing 397 yards of offense — 223 rushing and 174 passing.
Jupiter standouts
Nick Bothe continues to be one of Jupiter’s most important two-way weapons. Through the available season statistics, Bothe leads Jupiter with five total touchdowns and three interceptions.
Brendan Hollinger leads the Warriors in receiving yards per game, while Zach Sulyma is the team’s tackles-per-game leader and freshman Knox Fuhr has emerged as a pass-rushing threat.
Boca Raton
Boca managed two touchdowns, but Jupiter’s offensive pace became too much to match.
The Cage Take: Putting up 59 against a local opponent gets everyone’s attention. Jupiter is becoming a serious factor in the county race.
Palm Beach Lakes 20, Santaluces 10
Don’t overlook the Rams.
Palm Beach Lakes went on the road and defeated Santaluces 20-10, improving to 3-0. The Rams outscored Santaluces 13-0 after halftime.
Palm Beach Lakes standout: J. Johnson
Quarterback J. Johnson was responsible for all three Rams touchdowns.
He rushed eight times for 82 yards and two touchdowns while completing 5 of 16 passes for 62 yards and another score. R. Ferdinand led the receiving production with two catches for 40 yards.
Santaluces
The Chiefs actually led 10-7 at halftime, but Lakes’ defense shut them out over the final two quarters.
The Cage Take: Palm Beach Lakes is 3-0, and now the Rams get a major opportunity: Jupiter vs. Palm Beach Lakes in Week 5.
Circle that one.
King’s Academy 10, Miami Beach 9
Sometimes a one-point win tells you more about a team than a blowout.
The King’s Academy escaped Miami Beach with a 10-9 road victory.
The Lions have shown early this season that they can win games in different ways. Week 4 required defense, patience and the ability to protect a razor-thin lead.
Miami Beach deserves equal credit for making TKA earn every point.
The Cage Take: Winning ugly still counts. TKA went on the road and found a way.
Jupiter Christian 57, Glades Day 19
Jupiter Christian’s offense erupted.
The Eagles hung 57 points on Glades Day in a 57-19 victory, one of the highest-scoring performances anywhere on the Week 4 Palm Beach County board. ESPN West Palm’s social coverage also highlighted the Eagles’ offensive explosion.
Glades Day managed 19 points, but keeping pace with Jupiter Christian became impossible.
The Cage Take: When you put 57 on the scoreboard, people notice.

The Cage Week 4 Standouts
Several performances deserve special recognition coming out of the week: Trey Moran and the West Boca defense for ending Cardinal Newman’s local streak; J. Johnson for accounting for three touchdowns in Palm Beach Lakes’ win; Nick Bothe and Jupiter’s explosive attack; Palm Beach Central’s defense for forcing five turnovers; and Jabarri/Jannaro Sumpter for producing Cardinal Newman’s biggest play despite the loss.
